We are four students who live for exploring remote and wild areas in the Northern hemisphere. Kamchatka is said to be the wildest but at the same time, the most beautiful place there is. To independently explore this region in the east of Russia would normally be off limits for us. With the support of the University of Cambridge, we aim to change just that.
Because not everybody is as fortunate to have this level of support our central aim is to enable like-minded people to experience Kamchatka themselves. We will document our journey in detail through articles and pictures online and in the university newspapers. Furthermore, to enable people to really visit Kamchatka we will upload our entire GPS dataset, preparation forms, and our travel itinerary. In doing so we hope to inspire more young people to explore this remote region of immense natural beauty to increase its protection through awareness.
In contrast to a documentary which shows the beauty of an area but at the same time makes it appear to be off limits we aim to give everybody the opportunity to visit Kamchatka by giving detailed information of our endeavor.
